Why do I need a domain name?

OK, how many times have you asked your self, "Why do I need a website?
Why do I need my own domain name?"


Let me try to help you answer that. There are several reasons
to have your own website with your own domain name and your
own email. The best reason is that if you own your own
domain name, you can do with it as you please. No one can
take it away from you.

Unless you own your own domain name, and you can prove it is
owned by you by looking it up at www.whois.net, you will
never be in control of your own website and email. At
anytime your ISP (or whoever gave you that domain) can
take that website and email address away from you.



Your OWN domain name is NOT like these:

www.AOL.com/members/RonSmith
www.FreeYellow.com/JrBuilders
www.RonSmith.FreeYellow.com
www.FreeHosting.RonSmith.com

Those domains above are not owned by RonSmith.com. They are
owned by other companies. You will never have complete control
over a website address like that.

soap with over one million hits per day? The only way you
could sell a website address like that or the only way
to guarantee that no one could take your website away
is to have YOUR OWN DOMAIN.
