This is a dream that many of us share, being able to commute across the hall or downstairs to our home offices in our PJ's. And we thought we were lucky when our bosses, or former bosses, allowed us to come to the office in business casual attire rather than formal business attire. Times are changing and as more and more corporations are offering incentives to entice employees to stay on their payroll, many of us are looking at alternative ways to create income and remain closer to our families.
And then came network marketing. An entire industry that is so misunderstood! There are thousands of network marketing companies out there. As with every company or corporation, some are better than others. Some are here today and gone tomorrow, yet there are many others that have history, strength and stability. As with any company you are prepared to invest your money or time into, you must do some due diligence.
Is this a pyramid, many will ask? The new associate will choke on this question. A pyramid is a structure. Out governments are structured like a pyramid, as are our corporations and our schools. Is there anything wrong or illegal about any of those?
Some will ask, is this a get rich quick scheme? What exactly does that question mean? This is a business, no different than any other business. This industry is creating millionaires each and every year. Those millionaires have worked very hard to get where they are. Our industry is equal opportunity. It does not see the color of your skin or care if you are male or female. The reason some people are not successful in this business is the same reason they probably wouldn't be successful in any other type of business. They have not developed the skills necessary to be an entrepreneur.
To be an entrepreneur takes a desire and passion that many people accustomed to working for others do not have. Having said that, these are all skills you can learn. There are many great personal development books out there in the marketplace. Start working on those skills and you will have what it takes to be an entrepreneur.
Network marketing can change your life, if you let the power of leverage and compounding take effect. Treat it as a business and over time you will gain control of your finances and perhaps more importantly, your time. But if you treat this type of business casual, you will become a casualty of it. Most people quit just before they are ready for success. Sometimes we are afraid of success and fail to succeed because we are so used to what we have. If you're even a little bit curious about this industry that is churning out so many millionaires, then stop by the business section in any bookstore and read about it.
The definition of insanity is to keep doing what you're doing and expecting different results. There are two types of people out there in the world today, those that think they can and those that think they can't. Both are right! What's stopping you from going to work in your PJ'S?
