If You Really Want To Be Successful...Make A Difference!

How would you like to be successful beyond your wildest
dreams? You can be. It is a reachable goal.

Have you been searching for the seemingly elusive
success *secret* and can't seem to put your finger on it?
Well, I am here to tell you that the answer is right
under your nose.

It is so obvious that you may have overlooked it.

Take this simple quiz. Once you complete both parts of it,
I believe *the answer* will hit you like a ton of bricks.
Please don't skip to the answer. Do yourself a favor and
actually *take* the quiz. It will not only help you SEE
the answer more clearly, it may even put a warm smile on
your face.

Take out a piece of paper and write down as many answers
as you can think of to the following questions:
(Don't scroll down any further until you have written
your answers down)

1) Name the last five Super Bowl Winners.
2) Name five billionares.
3) Name five Pulitzer Prize Winners.
4) Name the last five Cy Young Award Winners.
5) Name the last five Academy Award Winners for
Best Picture.

How did you do? I hope you did better than I did.

---------

Now, take the second part of the quiz and see if you do
any better.

1) List five teachers or coaches who made a difference in
your life.

2) Name five friends who helped you through a personal
problem or a rough time.

3) Name five people who taught you something you will
always remember.

4) Name five people who made you feel special when you
were growing up.

5) Name five people you enjoy spending your time with.

How did you do on the second part? I'd be willing to bet
you did better. I know I certainly did. Not only that, but
many warm memories came back to me.

The point of this little quiz is to demonstrate that fame
and fortune are fleeting, but lasting success comes from
helping others. Money and fame can be lost in the blink
of an eye. It happens to people every day.

I am not saying that you can't be rich, famous and
successful too. It's not only possible, but nearly
inevitable when you make helping others your primary goal.

If you really want to be successful in the truest sense,
make a difference in someone's life. Make it your life's
mission. Make making a difference the basis for everything
you do.

Apply this philosophy to your job, business and
relationships. Before you begin any project, give any
advice, start a conversation or lecture your child, ask
yourself, "How can I do this in a way that will make a
positive difference in their life."

Make it a point to remind yourself of the importance of
service to others. Do it daily. I have made it a habit to
do this first thing in the morning by reminding myself
that an opportunity to help someone will present itself
today, if I pay attention to what is going on around me.

Try it yourself and before long you will find yourself
really looking forward to each new day. You will begin to
live your life your with more energy and enthusiasm. Things
will start to fall into place for you, in ways you never
expected.

And who knows, twenty years from now, someone you came
in contact with may take this test, write *your* name
down and fondly remember something you did for them that
made a real difference in their life.

That is what I consider SUCCESS!
